Friday, April 20, 2012 We love interiors. We love to shop. We love a great deal. And, to boot, we love to support our friends. So, it should come as no surprise that we're super excited about the upcoming fundraiser event, Design on a Dime, from Housing Works. Never heard of it? It's an opportunity for a hand-selected crew of the most amazing designers to outfit rooms with new merchandise which is sold at 50-70 percent off retail. All those proceeds then go on to support one of Housing Works' upcoming projects. Sound good to you? Sounds good to us!
Worried about who might be picking out all that merchandise? Don't be. The list of Design on a Dime designers is impressive. Go check it out. We'll wait. ... And should you be lucky enough to come away with a great steal, all that dough is going to a great cause. The upcoming Jefferson Avenue Residence, opening later this year, will provide supportive housing for single, formerly homeless adults living with HIV/AIDS. The three-story brick building consisting of 12 units will incorporate many elements of sustainable design and construction. No-VOC paints? Check. Furnishings made of recycled materials? Check. (Hmm, we wonder if their tile is Green Squared certified?...)
So just how do you get to participate in this much-adored annual event? Just. Show. Up. The event is free to the public on April 27th & 28th at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Should you prefer to be treated like a VIP and get first dibs, you'll want to purchase a ticket to the opening night reception on April 26th.
So as opening night draws near, we want to take a minute and say good luck and best wishes to some familiar faces to this blog who will be designing rooms for this year's event: Tyler Wisler, the ladies of Tilton Fenwick, Patrick James Hamilton, and Larry Ruhl of High Falls Mercantile.

Wednesday, March 28, 2012 Last week, we had the extreme pleasure of meeting up with so many of our friends while they were on Modenus' BlogtourNYC at the Architectural Digest Home Show. A highlight of the AD Home Show is getting to see the DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) Dining by Design tables that are on display adjacent to the main showroom floor.
Every year, DIFFA has its major fundraisers all over the country and for the past two years the New York fundraiser has been held in conjunction with the AD Home Show. The coordinators of the Dining by Design event ask for established as well as up-and-coming designers to design a table top for the event. In total there are over 30 designers involved in this event and the table tops they design are AMAZING, INSPIRING and pure eye candy!!! The only rule the designers are given is they must be able to seat dinners at their tables after the public viewing because they have a VIP gala dinner on the last night.
Some of the designers involved in this year's show were Tilton Fenwick, Johnathan Adler for Kravet, Ralph Lauren Home, Marchesa for Lenox, Liebherr, Marimekko, David Stark, Benjamin Moore, RDYC Interior Design + Architectural Development, Nile Johnson for Philosophy Design Studio & Cheryl Umbles for Perspective Interiors, Echo Design Group, David Rockwell, and Maya Romanoff.

Decor, Entertainment, Events | tagged AAD Home Show, DIFFA, Dining by Design, Tilton Fenwick Friday, January 20, 2012 If it's a Friday in January, then it must be time for another entry in our New Year, New View series where we're surveying some of our favorite bloggers/industry professionals for their fresh perspectives. This week, we have the powerhouse interior design duo, Anne Maxwell Foster and Suysel dePedro Cunningham of Tilton Fenwick. Accolades for this pair's work have taken the form of various awards, showhouses, public speaking engagements and editorial coverage. But we love them simply for their generous spirits, open minds and freeflowing laughs. We are thrilled beyond belief to have them on the blog today. So, what have you got for us, ladies?

Supporting charities has been a priority for us both since the inception of Tilton Fenwick. In 2012, we have committed participate in and/or attend as many design-related charity events as we can. We feel that doing what you do best in order to help others is a great gift and if we can use our design work to do good, we see it as a win-win!
We designed vignettes for Housing Works’ Design on a Dime last year (shown below) and are honored to be participating again this year. Design on a Dime is a charity fundraiser which supports homeless and low-income New Yorkers living with HIV & AIDS. Each year top interior designers create fabulous room vignettes and all of the products used are sold at significant discounts all to benefit Housing Works. The shopping and discounts are amazing and it is one of the best parties of the year. This year’s event will take place on April 26th sponsored by Veranda, House Beautiful & Elle Décor!
DIFFA (Design Industries Fighting for Aids) is another amazing charity that benefits AIDS. We will be doing a table at this year’s Dining by Design event as “emerging designers”. If you are attending the Architectural Digest Home show, your admission tickets allows access to see the tables on view from March 22-26. The cocktails are on the 22nd and the gala event is the evening of March 26.
Here are a few other design-related charities that we admire outside of the New York area. Hopefully, you will take a minute to check out the work they do and contribute your dollars, talent or time to one of them in 2012!
