Favorite Places & Spaces: Views From Home

When Elise and I discussed the idea of a series showcasing our favorite spaces, I must admit that I did have some hesistation. You see, not every space in my life is perfectly decorated, staged and, shall we say, print-ready. It's shocking, I know.

Instead, there are spaces that I love for more than their aesthetic; they are comfortable, familiar and filled with family and love. They are places in which I have spent loads of time and which are, to me, just like home. And as much as I love the places themselves, I find equal comfort in the sights that I see when I'm in them. So while we finish getting those spaces dolled up for the media (ha!), here are just a few of the lovely views from my many adopted homes.

Ah, New York by night - as seen here in the view from my sister's apartment. Just to be clear, her space actually IS print-ready. You may remember it as one of our early Friday Favorites (the pink pouf) and as part of our very first Creative Types (Isabel Borland). Image courtesy of Charissa Fay.

And while I have pictures and pieces and antiques that originated in Taiwan, it has been my experiences there that convey the heart of the place.

As a child, I was hardly able to appreciate our visits to Taiwan. But since then, I have been fortunate to return as an adult and, more recently, with my own kids in tow. How amazing it has been to see Taiwan from this viewpoint, to truly see and appreciate the beauty and the character of this place. It seemed only natural to share with you the beauty of this place - which is such a part of me - as the first of my favorite places.
