Master the Mix in Decorating Your Home
Monday, August 6, 2012
When we first started this blog, it was our goal to share with you all of the different options that are available when it comes to decorating your home. We were inspired by what we had learned in our interior design class and knew there had to be an audience of like-minded individuals who yearned to know just how to NOT make a home look like a page in a mass-market catalog and how to make it have more of their personality. There had to be tricks of the trade.
And there are. One of the biggest tricks of the trade we have come to accept is one of the best pieces of information we can share with you: “master the mix.” What does that mean exactly? It means you need to mix it up in your rooms! Play with balance, textures, shape and size in each and every room in your home.
Do you have a lovely antique chair handed down to you from your grandmother? Then throw a vibrant colored pillow on it and continue that color in pops around the room. Find a side table to set beside it that creates contrast between the lines of the two. Place a sleek vase on the table that holds your grandmother’s favorite flowers.
Want some more simple, yet attainable ideas? Check out these easy ways you can shake up your decor by mastering the mix!
