What We’re Reading -- Google Reader Edition

As I’ve mentioned before, I love to read. My reading habits have changed a bit since I’ve become a wife and parent. No longer are magazines and books strewn about on tables and in decorative baskets due in part to the fear they will end up as placemats for my husband or used by my children as art materials. My magazines, along with my books, end up placed in storage containers at my desk and bedside table where it takes an effort for me to get them out and read them. What’s a book worm to do? Pinned from theenglishmuse.blogspot.com
Since I began consulting from home, I’ve spend a great portion of my day online for work and through this work I’ve been introduced to some great blogs and websites. In order to keep up with the over 120 blogs I regularly read, I use my Google Reader. Truth be told, I have been neglecting my reader and I hadn’t checked in on it since last year sometime. Luckily for me, the reader “reset” itself and only loaded posts made as of January. *whew*

When I logged back in over the weekend, I found my list to be lacking from some of my newest interests as well as some of my friends’ blogs. I spent most of my day Sunday updating my reader. I spent most of my night reading as much as I could; I’m still reading. I have really enjoyed catching up with old blogs, adding some new blogs, and sharing tons of ideas, information and inspiration with friends and family (they are sooo sick of me right now).

So without further ado, I wanted to share what I am really digging right now in my reader. And for fun, I also asked Mae to share what her faves of the moment were too. Check out these blogs, as they span the range from news to design to parenting to food. Please share in our comments below what you are reading! I LOVE to find new reads.

I Guess I Was Wrong: Wallpaper

I come from a world of solid walls. As in solid color, mostly near-white. After my childhood home got hit by lightning (boy was that fun), I remember thinking my parents had gone hog crazy when they painted a few accent walls some sort of red-orange. Born from this constant exposure to solid colored walls is my distaste for wallpaper. All I knew of wallpaper was my general perception that it was musty, yellowing, absolutely horrid and not to be tolerated under any circumstances. When we moved into our house, the one change I knew we would make straight away was that all wallpaper would be removed. And in its place, lovely subtle paint hues would be applied.

Well, it’s been a year and a half and I’m already backtracking. I am proud to report that I have begun to discover the wonders of wallpaper. It’s not all musty and yellowing! It’s not all dusty and fading florals! Who knew? So in celebration of my new discovery, I thought I would share with you some images that embody my new wallpaper fascination.  It’s a whole new world and I’m only just dipping my toes in but I think I love it!  So peruse with me, won’t you?

One Little Word | Captured, Week 6

It's been a bit of a slow week, one-little-word-wise.  So I thought I'd draw from my (not so vast) archives for this week's image for the One Little Word | Captured photo challenge.
