HYLAND Magazine

HYLAND Magazine is the latest foray into showcasing luxury and premier living via an online publication created strictly for subscription on the iPad. It is a high-end, residential decoration, design, architecture, art, travel, men’s and women’s accessories, cuisine, charity, cartoons and lifestyle magazine created by a design-industry insider, Christopher Hyland.

“In all great and satisfying design and art there is balance, a line around which and from which the object or work of art derives harmony. However complex, however simple, however traditional or modern, one can seek to ascertain and derive contentment from perceiving this balance.” Christopher Hyland

Two of the current covers for the luxury lifestyle iPad-only magazine, HYLAND. The magazine is filled with with beautiful photography, dream destinations and fascinating people, such as President George Abela and the First Lady of Malta.

The magazine, which retails for $8.99 per issue (there are discounts for subscriptions), launched in 2012 and publishes monthly. Each issue has an article or series of articles on design, decoration, architecture, property, travel, charity, art and high-end goods and services. The contributors range from Sally Quinn (Washington Post reporter & Andy Warhol muse), Richard Wendorf (director of the American Museum in Britain), Marta Hallett (President of Glitterati book publisher), Dick Kagan (formerly of Town & Country and Harper’s Bazaar) and Anthony Haden-Guest (writer for GQ, Esquire, Vanity Fair + more) to name a few.

Each issue has around 30 - 40 articles which are accessed by swiping horizontally and in order to read the article one must scroll up and down vertically. This type of maneuvering is quite efficient and new to any of the current iPad publications. The photography in the issues is stunning and the text that accompanies each article complements and completes the story in a symbiotic partnership.

HYLAND magazine's coverage of Grey Gardens was recently featured in the New York Daily News.

The main contributor and owner of the publication is the highly-respected Christopher Hyland. Mr. Hyland founded and is president of Christopher Hyland, Inc., a purveyor of high-end fabric, wallcoverings, furniture, trimmings and more. He studied in New England and Switzerland, graduated from Georgetown University and holds honorary doctorates from Kiev Economic University and Savannah College of Art and Design.

Mr. Hyland has profound, lasting, unshakable respect for the art of interior design, decoration as well as architecture, art and antiques. He has worked with the greatest residential designers, decorators and architects. He steadfastly supports, encourages and promotes them and their key role in the design process. He is also a serious art collector, traveler, sportsman and discerning consumer. These experiences, among others, have enabled him to develop an eye for color, proportion, balance, materials, texture, periods and, ultimately, an eye for fine interiors and for what is placed in them.

Two additional covers for the most recent edition of HYLAND magazine highlighting their peek into the "inner work chamber" of designer Juan Pablo Molyneux and their recently announced HYLAND Awards for Design, Architecture, Decoration, Photography, Gardening and Contracting. The awards honored such notable names as Jamie Drake, Mario Buatta and, for the HYLAND Lifetime Achievement Award, Paige Rense.
