Earmarked: Feather My Nest
Wednesday, November 30, 2011 When it comes to winter decorating, I love to surround myself with things that conjure up the season and a sense of comfort and warmth. This year, I've been inspired to consider something a little different than my usual choices of fragrant evergreens and sparkling silver: feathers. I love how they are at once luxurious and delicate and incredibly touchable. Here are a few of my favorite finds for incorporating them into my home.
I love this subtle feather wreath from Glam Home Design ($75) with its muted tones and touchable texture. It is reminiscent of this wreath from West Elm with which I became smitten while working on a piece about winter wreaths over on Momtastic.
These delicate glass-encased feather ornaments from Olive and Cocoa (left) each feature a single feather suspended in an individual mouth-blown glass ornament ($114, set of seven). Getting ready to ring in the new year? How about these delicately hand-painted champagne flutes by Mary Elizabeth Arts (right, $78, set of two).
We had the pleasure of meeting Chanee Vijay of {me}longings at Blogfest last May and have been excitedly watching the progress of her new line of modern, eco-friendly housewares. One of her creations is this blockprinted hemp pillow ($40) which will help keep you comfy by the fire this winter.

I'm currently obsessed with all manners of photographic prints. On paper, on canvas, on glass, on aluminum -- I'm up for it all. Printed large on canvas, these images could create a focal point by the fire. Printed up small on glass, they could be a great contribution to an artwork grid.

Have you been in a feather state of mind? Would you literally feather your nest? Do tell...
